Marcus Stewart scored his 250th career goal as Exeter City recorded their first three points of the season with a 1-0 win at Carlisle United. The veteran netted a second half penalty after he was brought down in the box by Carlisle keeper Lenny Pidgeley. The Grecians had to soak up heavy pressure and survived a scare when skipper Matt Taylor headed against his own crossbar. Danny Livesey looked to have broken the deadlock in the second half but his header was cleared off the line by Liam Sercombe. Stewart was handed the chance to snatch all three points when he was sent tumbling in the box. And the striker kept his cool from the spot, deftly lifting the ball down the middle and into the back of the net.
